"Gods Gonna Cut You Down"
Hands United
Builds a Solid Foundation
"Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's been done in the dark will be brought to the light

Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Sooner or later God'll cut you down"

Individual Transitional Placement Team - RN5 ???
If anyone has checked the job postings recently there is one job opening that really jumps off the page.  Despite the recent devastating round of layoffs for Direct Care and Support Staff, apparently Ms. Montminy feels there is a pressing need for a new Registered Nurse 5 position functioning on the ITP Team.  We have to ask why the ITPT (Individual Transitional Placement Tricksters) need a full time RN position and why that position has to be one of the highest paid nursing position in DMR, at over $90,000 dollars per year.  Perhaps this it is managements plan to use this supposedly high level nursing position to overrule any Nursing concerns that could interfere with the ITPT’s bum rush of clients out the door.
Rumor has it that this new position has been reserved for one of Linda Montminy’s old friends from Hogan.  And it is a curious fact that this job positing is not listed on the State Human Services web site.
Whoever this new ITPT nurse turns out to be, they should take note of CMR (Commonwealth of Massachusetts Regulation) 224, Standards of Conduct for Nursing.  This state law clearly outlines the professional responsibilities for a licensed nurse to protect the patients in her care.  It also outlines the procedures for filing charges against the license of any nurse who does not protect the persons under her care

Editors note:
The following was written by a Fernald employee after watching then reflecting on the ITP process.  ITP stands for “Individual Transitional Placement”

You don’t see it.
You don’t work here.

It’s like marketing a product -
ITP members going into residences
Looking to scurry off to the Administration Building
With records of the clients
Who they don’t even know -

Bringing this information to
other Marketers-  who also
don’t know the clients -
Packaged meat-up for sale-
Tours of strangers coming to
Their homes- to view the product -
Shopping for a potential purchase -

Not human beings, with
Mental retardation, or disabilities,
Who cannot speak for themselves –
Products – at what price?

You don’t know.
You don’t work here.
I do!

Christmas in Limbo 2009
Christmas is canceled at Fernald for 2009. In years past the Fernald grounds were alive with Christmas lights and decorated trees.  Each building was in spirited competition to have the best holiday display.  From the understated white lights of Cottage13 to the over the top colored lights and decorated waving snowman of Cottage 3,  Fernald was alive and filled with holiday spirit.
In 2009 the entire grounds sit in darkness, from the blown out street lights to the absence of holiday lights.
In 2009 we are haunted by the ghostly spirits of Christmases past.

Little Lars
.On Friday afternoon Lars & I spent 2 hours in the wonderful warm Fernald pool with seven friends (4 toddlers & 3 moms), and although Lars cried much of the time (which I've never seen him do in the pool before), we traded kids & passed him around & had a generally grand time.
